Dr. Daniel YAN

Dr Daniel Yan is currently the Assistant Executive Director of VTC and concurrently the Academic Director of the Interdisciplinary Unit.

Dr Yan possess a Bachelor’s degree in Civil and Structural Engineering from the University of Hong King, a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Cambridge, and a Juris Doctor degree from The Chinese University of Hong Kong.

Ir. Allen Yeung Tak Bun

Former Government Chief Information Officer, The Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region

Mr. Yeung served as the former Hong Kong Government Chief Information Officer (head of department, Justice of Peace), responsible for formulation of policies and strategies for Hong Kong's information industry in development of the digital economy, e-government, cyber-security, and formulation of the blueprint for developing Hong Kong into the world's leading smart city. He was the Chief Corporate Development Officer at the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation, responsible for the development strategy of the science park, nurturing and supporting bio-tech, green-tech, IT and electronics enterprises. Mr. Yeung started his career in Silicon Valley and had worked for several high-tech companies. Thereafter, he held several senior management positions in multinational corporations, Hong Kong listed companies and private equity funds, with operations throughout Asia.

Mr. Yeung holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas (Austin), a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University, and an Executive MBA from the Kellogg School of Management of the University of Northwestern in conjunction with the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.

Mr. Emil CHAN

Chairman, The Association of Cloud and Mobile Computing Professionals


Emil is a FinTech enthusiast with over 20 years experience in managing IT and business transformation projects in international financial institutions. He had worked for several sizeable international banks including Credit Suisse and BayernLB as the roles of First Vice President, Head of IT in Asia Pacific, Project Director and Operations Manager AP. He has extensive experience in both Business and IT consulting encompassing the design, setup, leading and managing of cross-border projects throughout Asia. Emil is currently the co-founder and CEO of Starthub Holding Ltd., a startup entrepreneur consulting firm. He is also a part-time lecturer of postgraduate eBusiness and FinTech courses for several renowned business schools such as Hong Kong University SPACE, Hong Kong Institute of Bankers and Hang Seng Management College. Moreover, he compiles and delivers in-house training courses for well known international companies and financial institutions, facilitating their staff to make good use of technology to increase the companies' competitiveness.

In the past 10 years, he participated actively in voluntary community services in related to popularization of technology. He leads the IBM User Group as the Chairman since 2006. He is also the founding Chairman of the Association of Cloud and Mobile Computing Professionals, the Vice President of Internet Profession Association (iProA), the Vice President of Hong Kong Blockchain Society and the Vice Chairman of Hong Kong New Emerging Technology Education Association.

He is the judge of several major IT competitions including Hong Kong ICT Awards and Pan-Pearl Delta Universities IT Projects Competition in Hong Kong and China since 2010. He also sits on the board of The Smart City Consortium as the FinTech Committee Chair, Vice President (Innovation and Regulation Policy) of Hong Kong Blockchain Society and a Committee Member of the Hong Kong Cross Border eCommerce Association. Emil also hosts seminars, delivers public speeches and publishes articles of FinTech related topics on local newspapers and interviewed by various media from time to time. Emil had obtained a bachelor degree on Applied Computer Science and graduated from the University of Iowa with a Master of Business Administration degree. To facilitate his training skill, he also obtained the NLP (Neuro-linguistic programming) Trainer and CISA (Certified Information System Auditor) certifications around a decade ago.

Ir. Henry CHEUNG

Council Member, Smart City Consortium

Ir. Henry Cheung graduated from the University of Toronto Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering, Division of Engineering Science, with a major in digital control and analog - digital conversion.  He attained the qualification of Master of Business Administration from Deakin University in Melbourne, Australia.

Ir. Cheung worked in Canada involved in various signalling systems projects around the world.  He returned to Hong Kong in 1992 joining the MTR Corporation Limited (MTRCL), responsible for the signalling system replacement works and the Airport Railway project.  He later joined the Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation (KCRC) responsible for the West Rail signalling system project and the management of the KCRC signal and communication systems.  In 2008 he started consulting works for the railway companies and suppliers in the Asia Pacific region.  Ir. Cheung is currently head of Thales Transport and Security (Hong Kong) Limited.

Ir. Chang has twenty-year experience in signalling system design, project management and railway operations. He lectured for the Institution of Engineering and Technology on railway engineering and electromagnetic interference.  He also published papers on the above subjects as well as on signalling systems and project management. He is a guest lecturer for the University of Hong Kong, Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education and the Singapore Polytechnic.

Ir. Cheung is a Registered Professional Engineer (Electronics and Control, Automation & Instrumentation); Chartered Engineer; Professional Engineer in Ontario, Canada; Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology; Fellow of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers, Fellow of the Institution of Railway Signal Engineers; Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers; and member of the Hong Kong Information Technology Joint Council.  He is also actively involved in the profession: being the past Chairman of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineering and Technology Hong Kong; past Chairman of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers Electronics Division; executive member of the Hong Kong Information Technology Joint Council, committee of the Railway Signal Engineers Hong Kong Branch; the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers Electronics Professional Advisory Panel; Divisional Advisory Panel for the Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department, University of Hong Kong; and a member of the Smart City Expert Group led by the Legislation Council of the Hong Kong SAR Government.

Dr. Jacky TING

Digital Services Lead, Cognizant Technology Solutions (Hong Kong) Limited

Dr Jacky Ting is the Digital Services Lead of Greater China Region (GCN) at Cognizant (a leading American multinational corporation that provides digital, technology, consulting, and operations services, which is listed in the NASDAQ-100 and the S&P 500 indices: it ranked 195 at Fortune 500). Prior to joining Cognizant, he worked at PCCW Solutions Limited (the largest telecommunications company in Hong Kong that is listed on Hong Kong Stock Exchange SEHK: 0008) with the position of Assistant Vice President (AVP) and Practice Leader in Digital Solutions.

In 2011, he was awarded a Doctor of Philosophy degree with the research topic “Medical Informatics via Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Data Mining” from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). Since March 2013, he has been appointed as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering, PolyU, responsible for advising the department in areas of digital services, engineering management, logistics engineering and project management. In 2017, he was awarded as ISE Distinguished Alumni and an Associate Fellow at The Professional Validation Centre of Hong Kong Business Sector (PVCBS). His biographical profile has been selected for inclusion in the IoT Heroes Program 2016 and Marquis Who's Who in the World® 2015, respectively; in 2012, he received the award of Outstanding Youth ICT Achiever in the Outstanding ICT Achiever Awards 2012. Furthermore, Dr Ting has also won a number of awards in several local and international technology innovation competitions.

MR Rick Ng has been in the e-commerce and exhibition business for 15 years. Before working for Tmall , Mr. Ng was the Business Director of B2B Hong Kong . For the past years, Mr. Ng has led the Hong Kong team to build the ecosystem of local e-commerce. He has also developed different solutions to problems encountered by the Hong Kong trading companies.

Now Mr. Ng is responsible for the strategic development of Tmall HK business. He will bring the accumulated business experience of Tmall, together with local business entreprises,  to serve the local business by providing localised services in logistics or payment  system that will satisfy Hong Kong consumers.

Mr. Matthew NG

Ms. Alice So has been dedicated to provide supports to Hong Kong start-ups more than 10 years.  She joined Hong Kong Cyberport Management Company Limited in 2011.  Currently as the Head of Entrepreneurship, she leads the team to offer the Cyberport Creative Micro Fund and the Cyberport Incubation Programme, providing financial support and professional services, to nurture talents and assist start-ups at different life stages to accelerate in the digital tech industry.

She is a Project Management Professional of Project Management Institute and a Senior Member of Hong Kong Institute of Marketing.


Mr. Kan Chung Yeung

AI & Analytics Guru, Association of Cloud and Mobile Computing Professionals

He is an experienced stocks, futures and commodities trader, and has been trading the Hong Kong financial markets since 1995 starting with stocks. He transitioned to futures and commodities in 1996 with an interest in the global financial markets including forex, gold, crude oil, Dow E-mini and S&P E-mini up until now. In 2005 he began developing algorithmic technical indicators and trading strategies for TradeStation, MultiCharts and NinjaTrader. In 2010 he created a technical analysis technique called market cold reading that studies the interrelationship between volume and price action to find out imbalance of demand and supply and likely future price behavior.

Apart from financial trading, he is an expert in large-scale software development and system integration. He has also published many eLearning courses and books on Cassandra, Python and Node.js. Currently he is working on applying data science and artificial intelligence techniques in financial trading and computer vision. His academic background includes a B.Eng. in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and Master of Engineering Management. He also shares short video clips in YouTube.
